Help Us Build the Future of Sylvan Lake

New Library Facility Sponsorship Campaign

The Sylvan Lake Municipal Library has been at the heart of our community for generations. As Sylvan Lake continues to grow, so does the need for a modern, accessible, and inspiring library space—one that reflects who we are today and supports the generations to come.

By becoming a sponsor of the new Sylvan Lake Municipal Library, you can play a meaningful role in shaping our community’s future while leaving a lasting legacy.

Why We Need a New Building

Our Vision for a new library

We envision a new Sylvan Lake Municipal Library that reflects the heart of our growing community —a space that is inclusive, innovative, and built for the future. As Sylvan Lake’s population expands and diversifies, so too must our library. More than a place for books, the new library will be a community cornerstone—a welcoming, barrier-free space where residents of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities can gather, learn, and thrive.

Expanded collections

An expanded collection will allow the library to meet provincial standards and better serve Sylvan
Lake’s growing population. This ensures more materials are available locally, reducing wait
times and dependence on interlibrary loans.

Designated youth zones

Dedicated spaces for children and teens will foster creativity, play, and focused learning in age appropriate environments. These zones will also help reduce noise and enhance the experience for
all patrons.

Accessible design

A barrier-free layout with accessible washrooms and navigation will ensure that every resident,
regardless of ability, can use the library comfortably and safely. Universal design promotes inclusivity and reflects the library’s
commitment to serving all members of the community.

A Library of Things

This collection of non-traditional items—like tools, instruments, and hobby gear—will help residents
access resources they may not be able to afford or store. It promotes financial accessibility and supports practical, everyday needs.

Flexible program and
meeting rooms

Multi-use rooms will host workshops, clubs, and community events, offering space for learning,
collaboration, and connection. These rooms will expand the library’s role as a central gathering
place for Sylvan Lake.

Shared offices

Spaces for social workers, Elders-in-residence, and writers-in-residence will bring vital services
directly into the library. This strengthens community ties and enhances access to cultural
and social support.

A Net Zero-ready design with integrated green space will reduce environmental impact and
operating costs over time. It reflects Sylvan Lake’s commitment to sustainability and future-focused
development.
